Alumni Square has entered its second year of construction with a scheduled completion date of late August 2005. Last year block construction of the tower was completed, as was the pouring of the bell loft floor over the steel support structure. The bell cradles were secured to the floor and the restored 100 year old bell hoisted into position. Framing of the roof and roofing as well as wiring for the bell tower were completed before winter.

However, lack of skilled volunteer labor forced us to hire a contractor who completed the upper section of the tower and put it under roof. This year, a contractor has been hired at what we feel is a very reasonable price, to complete the project. His cost will cover labor only to complete the brick veneer on the bell tower and the construction of the memorial walls.

Unfortunately, this has doubled our costs. Estimates to complete Alumni Square follow:

The amount remaining in the Alumni Square Fund is $10,300.00, which leaves us the task of raising an additional $13,700.00.

Over $50,000.00 in cash and material contributions has been made to date and to those who have unselfishly given, you have our sincere thanks. This project has been a struggle at times, but those of us on the committee have persevered believing that when complete Alumni Square will be a focal point of the new K-12 campus, an asset to the community of Leetonia and a reminder of Leetonia's scholastic history. Fundraiser's are in place to help raise money, but we also need your financial support through donation.
